My Journey:
Didn't I say 8 artists? And you just read about 7. Surprise, I'm the 8th!
Creativity runs deep in my bloodline. On both sides of my ancestry, my family has been filled with talented painters, woodworkers, musicians, decorators, designers, and creators of intricate stained glass pieces. I’m fortunate to have many of these beautiful works in my home—not for their monetary value but because they are pieces of my family’s history, deserving of remembrance. Surrounding myself with them fills my space with nostalgia and cherished memories.
As a child, drawing came naturally to me. I excelled in art, eventually pursuing a degree in Studio Art with a minor in Graphic Design. Over the years, my favorite mediums have included pencil and charcoal for drawing, acrylic and watercolor for painting, and even large-scale murals. I also enjoyed a fulfilling career as a graphic designer and art director for over 15 years.
Today, my art is no longer about perfection but about joy—a lesson I’ve embraced through my healing journey. Early in my recovery, my therapist encouraged me to use my creativity as a healing tool through art therapy techniques. At first, the idea was daunting. By that time, creating art had become more stressful than soothing. But I stuck with the process, determined to make peace with the discomfort, and I’m still learning and growing along the way.
One of the most joyful ideas that came to me was creating birdhouses as a visual tribute to my loved ones. Some of the artists I’ve featured here even have birdhouses dedicated to them in my backyard. Every time I look out my window, I see these small, vibrant pieces of love and memory on display. The thought of birds building nests in them next spring fills me with warmth and comfort.
This website is another extension of my creative spirit—a space where I share my journey and wisdom in a way that nourishes my soul. Featuring my fellow artists has been a dream since before the site even existed. Now, as I see it realized, I am both thrilled and humbled by their talents, their courage, and their accomplishments—whether celebrated or quietly impactful. Through this process, I rediscovered facets of their artistic worlds that I had forgotten, a gift I didn’t know I needed.

Thank you for sharing these amazing artists! I used to do a lot more art like drawing, painting, sculpture, sewing, crafting, woodwork, and such, but as the years have passed, I find I do fewer of those activities. I occasionally do an art or craft project here or there, but now I find great joy and relaxation in my plants. My creative and relaxing outlets are now in the form of plants, gardening, landscaping, and the beautification of my environment with plants. I love to dig in the soil, make custom planters, propagate plants, and cultivate garden spaces. In the summer, it gets me outside in the sunshine and I sometimes get a good workout from it.
